Lamborghini Says it's Extremely Pleased with the Exposure it Received with the Aventador J

For the short amount of time it spent to design and build the one-off Aventador J (just six weeks, according to Lamborghini designer Filippo Perini), the Sant'Agata based supercar maker received a whole lot of attention for its creation at last week’s Geneva Motor Show.

Lamborghini even crunched out some numbers and facts to verify its claim:

• More than 21.5 million organic Google searches
• The most popular show-week YouTube sports car video; “Aventador J – The Making Of” currently has more than 280,000 views (category “Auto and Vehicles”)
• “Best of Show” Winner - Autoweek magazine
• A new daily traffic record at www.lamborghini.com
• More than 6,800 tweets with a worldwide exposure of more than 40 million impressions

Lamborghini Designer Says that Aventador J was Cooked up in Six Weeks

Can you imagine any automaker coming up with a new model in just six weeks? You read that correctly: an entire car, not its ashtray or a pair of steering column stalks.

Yet that this is how long it took Lamborghini to prepare its fully functional Aventador J speedster that caused a sensation at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Stephan Winkelmann, who ordered his cohorts to ready “something special” for Geneva, has served as a paratrooper in the German army for two years and his first job was at the German financial institution MLP.

However, Herr Winkelmann grew up in Rome, where he also studied Political Science, and was employed by Fiat for a decade before his appointment as Lambo’s CEO.

Not just any VW Group company, but a supercar manufacturer that was born out of Ferrucio’s desire to serve a cold dinner of revenge to none other than Enzo Ferrari.

Top Gear magazine interviewed Lamborghini’s designer Filippo Perini about the creation of the one-off hypercar.

New Lamborghini Aventador J Video Hits the Airwaves

The most hardnosed Lamborghini in the company's history is also the rarest as only one will be made and sold to a very lucky buyer who will have to write a €2.1 million (US$2.77 million) cheque to the VW Group-owned automaker to the speedster model to his or her collection.

Following the world premiere of the Aventador J at the Geneva Motor Show this week, Lamborghini has released another video of the V12 powered model called "The Making of" which you can enjoy right after the break.

Mansory Grabs Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 from the Horns

Making its world premiere at the 82nd Geneva International Auto Salon is Mansory's first attempt to tune the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. The notorious German tuning firm's wild proposal includes both styling and performance upgrades.

Mansory was never known for its subtleness and for better or for worse, its Lamborghini Aventador tune won't go by unnoticed.

The comprehensive body package sees the replacement of the front and rear fenders and the bonnet with new pieces that increase the car's width by 40mm up front and 50mm at the rear.

Lamborghini's €2.1 Million Aventador J Speedster in the Flesh and on Film

Having the company’s CEO Stephan Winkelmann drive the open-top Aventador J onto the stage at Lamborghini’s official launch in front of the press at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show is a good way to make an impression.

Winkelmann opened the speedster's scissor door, stepped out and greeted his audience before introducing Lambo’s extreme open-top model of which only one will be produced.

He started by saying that even though the Sant’ Agata’s portfolio comprises only two models, the Aventador and the Gallardo, this does not stop the supercar maker from launching special models like the Reventon and the Sesto Elemento.

Lamborghini Aventador J is a One-Off Speedster for a Very, Very Rich and Lucky Buyer

The new Ferrari F12berlinetta is not the only exotic supercar making its world premiere at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show as Lamborghini has prepared its own special introduction that may very well steal the spotlight away from Maranello.

Meet the Lamborghini Aventador J, a one-off speedster model based on the Aventador LP700-4 coupe, which the Italian company claims will find its future owner by the end of the show.

And when Lamborghini says a one-off, it means it as there is only one car, no prototypes and no other example for the Lamborghini Museum. However, for the less fortunate millionaires seeking an open top experience, they'll be happy to learn that the Italian automaker is also preparing a "regular" roadster version of the Aventador.

It’s the weekend before the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and as such, some presentations are to be expected but the reveal we're about to tell you, wasn't planned for today, at least not officially.

Lamborghini Murcielago Beverly Hills Crash Revisited with Bonus Footage [NSFW]

POLL: Which is the Better Looking Supercar, the Ferrari F12berlinetta or the Lamborghini Aventador?

Just to get it out of the way, we believe that no matter what you vote on this poll, it's certain that most of us gearheads would have no problem whatsoever parking any of these two exotics under our garage if let's say, some magical fairy, riding a white Unicorn of course, were to hand over their keys to us.

And why would we as both the new Ferrari F12berlinetta and the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 are amongst the crème de la crème of their category. Did we mention that they both have at least 700-stallions under their hoods?

But aesthetics are always very subjective, and what we would like you to tell us by voting in our poll and why not, elaborate in the comments section below, is from what you have seen up until now, which one of these two exotic Italians is the better looking supercar?

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Crashes During Test, Captured on Camera!

Many things can go wrong during a test, especially if it involves a highly powerful supercar like the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, which is why automotive engineers select remote places like the Arctic Circle.

However, being that our spies travel to all four corners of the world with the goal of capturing a future model on film, there is always the slim possibility that they'll be on hand when something goes wrong. It's usually a one in a million shot, but stranger things have happened.

And that one in a million chance came when one of our scoop photographers was waiting for a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 to pass by somewhere in the Arctic Circle and there, it happened; it crashed into the snow!

One of the photographer's associates described the incident to Carscoop thusly:

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and Wet Roads Don't Mix…

While a nice quiet back road with some twist and turns is ideal for those that want to enjoy their car, if rain makes its presence and always depending on the driver and the type of vehicle, the ride can become more of a hassle, if not something even worse, than a pleasure.

This was the case for one of the drivers in a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder that attended a so-called "dream car tour" in New York when a bad storm hit the area.

We don't know the exact causes of the accident, but the Gallardo Spyder ended flipping over a ditch. The Italian supercar was completely destroyed.

YouTube user Jason Thorgalsen captured the aftermath of the incident when the tow truck crew was trying to get the Lamborghini up on the road on video. His description of the incident, which fortunately didn't result to any deaths, follows below:
