2012 Ferrari 599XX Evolution Makes its Debut Run at Suzuka

The crew over at Japan's Car Nifty sent us this video of the new 2012 Ferrari 599XX Evolution performing its first runs on the track at Suzuka following the racing car's world premiere at the Bologna Motor Show last December.
The debut took place during the first event of the Ferrari Racing Days that groups together the races for the entrants in the Asia-Pacific series of the Ferrari Challenge Tofeo Pirelli and the track sessions for clients involved in the 599XX and F1 programmes.

Formula 1: Australian GP Qualifying Results

Australian GP Qualifying
At the inaugural race of every Formula 1 season you never really know where each team stands in terms of performance. Sure, there are the favorites, the also-runs, the back markers and oftentimes, the wild cards.
Well, the qualifying race of the Australian Grand Prix that kicked off this year's F1 season certainly had all of the above. But not necessarily in the way most seasoned F1 fans might have expected.
Lewis Hamilton claimed the 20th pole position of his career and Jenson Button lined up right beside him, making it an all-McLaren front row. Not too surprising, as despite the fact that Sebastian Vettel took most pole positions last year, the McLarens had proved to be very fast during testing.

Formula 1: Australian GP Race Results

Every year FIA, the sport’s governing body, changes Formula 1’s technical regulations with the purpose of leveling out the playing field. This forces designers to work within a very strict set of parameters that make gaining an advantage a great challenge.

Despite FIA’s efforts to increase competition even more, F1 is far from becoming something akin to a one-make series. Some teams always make a better job than others do, but we have to wait until each year’s first race before drawing any conclusions.

At the 2012 Australian Grand Prix, the Saturday qualifying session showed us certain things like that the McLaren is currently the fastest car out there, while Red Bull Racing seems to have lost some of its pace due to the rule changes that affected the design of the RB8.

Formula 1: Carscoop’s Preview of the 2012 Season

When the red lights go out at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday (17:00 local time, 06:00 GMT), it will not only mark the start of the 28th Australian Grand Prix but of the 2012 Formula 1 season as well.

It will also mark the first time in the 62-year history of the sport that six world champions line up on the same grid: Michael Schumacher (7 titles), Fernando Alonso (2 titles), Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Kimi Raikkonen (1 title each) and, of course, the reigning champion, Sebastian Vettel, who also won the 2010 world title.

In Formula 1, things can change dramatically from one year to another. And FIA is certainly trying hard to make any advantage held by a single team evaporate: thus it made the standard ECUs even simpler, compelled all teams to use “periscope”-style exhausts eliminating their aerodynamic effect on the diffuser, made changes to the front wing’s minimal strength and height and outlawed ride-height suspension systems.

Despite all these changes, some of which were clearly aimed at Red Bull (and made most cars sport an ugly face), the 25-year old German and the all-conquering these past two seasons RBR team are starting out as the ones to beat.

Pretty Girls Pose Next to Gumball 3000 Ferrari 599 GTO

The 2012 edition of the wacky Gumball 3000 rally is almost upon us as the event, which will see contestants driving some 3,000 miles from New York City to Toronto and from there to Los Angeles in seven days, starts on May 25.

Among the many participants is Team Autogespot from Holland that will run in a rare Ferrari 599 GTO.

The limited edition Italian supercar, which is powered by a tweaked 6.0-liter V12 engine churning out 670-horses at 8,250 rpm and maximum torque of 620Nm (457 lb-ft) at 6,500 rpm, is dressed up in a rather awkward looking vinyl wrap with cart-postal-like automobile pictures.

Perhaps the lovely Dutch ladies posing next to it in the videos that follow after the break will succeed in deflecting your attention away from the wrap.

Boastful Ferrari 458 Driver in Trouble with the Police after YouTube Video

In yet another case of police using evidence from a YouTube video to warrant an arrest, a Japanese doctor from Japan has been caught and faces possible jail time after posting a clip of his drive in a Ferrari 458 Italia on the video-sharing website.

The 50-year old man placed a camera behind the driver's seat and recorded himself speeding along highways and coastal roads. The clip was filmed on the morning of April 24, 2011.

According to Japanese daily The Mainichi Daily News, in May, some angry YouTube users reported the video to the police who calculated that he was traveling at more than three times the 40km/h (25mph) speed limit at 124km/h (77mph).

Ferrari F12berlinetta Rendered as a Spider Model

The all-new Ferrari F12berlinetta was only just unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show a couple of days ago, but it's never too early to speculate on the future.

The Carscoop reader who we've come to know by the alias "Lil-k Amaru" has whipped up quick rendering of what a spider version of the new Ferrari supercar may look like if Maranello were to create such a version.

Being that 'berlinetta' literally means little saloon in Italian and is used for two-seater coupes, we imagine that the open-top variant could be named something like F12spider. A high-resolution version of the opening picture can be viewed after the jump.

Formula 1: Ferrari Technical Director "Disappointed" with New Car After Second Test

Scuderia Ferrari, the only team to be present in Formula 1 since its inaugural season in 1950, begins each year with the goal to win the Drivers’ and Constructors’ championship. Anything else, like last year’s third place behind Red Bull and McLaren, is considered a failure.

In the second official test of the year, which was held at Barcelona, Fernando Alonso posted the second fastest time at the end of the final day. This bodes well for the brand-new F2012 and the Scuderia’s chances of attaining its goals, right?

Well, the answer is “no”, at least according to the team’s technical director Pat Fry: “We are disappointed with the performance level seen at these tests and I think we have a lot of work ahead of us”, he said.

POLL: Which is the Better Looking Supercar, the Ferrari F12berlinetta or the Lamborghini Aventador?

Just to get it out of the way, we believe that no matter what you vote on this poll, it's certain that most of us gearheads would have no problem whatsoever parking any of these two exotics under our garage if let's say, some magical fairy, riding a white Unicorn of course, were to hand over their keys to us.

And why would we as both the new Ferrari F12berlinetta and the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 are amongst the crème de la crème of their category. Did we mention that they both have at least 700-stallions under their hoods?

But aesthetics are always very subjective, and what we would like you to tell us by voting in our poll and why not, elaborate in the comments section below, is from what you have seen up until now, which one of these two exotic Italians is the better looking supercar?

New F12berlinetta is the Most Powerful and Fastest Ferrari Ever [Photos and Videos]

Maranello has blown the covers off the successor to its 599 GTB Fiorano and a direct opponent of the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. The car was rumored to be called the F620 GT but as it turns out, we will come to know it as the new F12berlinetta.

Billed as the fastest and most powerful regular production Ferrari in history, the F12berlinetta sports a 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine that produces 730HP (740PS), which translates to a specific output of 116HP per liter. It also delivers a peak torque of 690Nm or 508.9 lb-ft, 80 percent of which is available at just 2,500 rpm, while it can rev up to 8,700 rpm.

The 12-cylinder unit is linked to an F1 dual-clutch transmission with close gear ratios that drives the rear wheels.

Ferrari says that the F12berlinetta accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62mph) in 3.1 seconds and from zero to 200 km/h (124mph) in 8.5 seconds en route to a top speed in excess of 340km/h (211mph+) adding that it also completes a lap of the Fiorano circuit in 1.23", faster than any other Ferrari road car.

Fenice Milano Ferrari 360 Modena Su Misura F101

Align Center0-62 mph 4.5 seconds.
The Ferrari 360 Modena is still one of the most loved by the fans of supercars, with a 'rampant' career that marked an important technical stylistic turn for the sedan rear engine cars of the 'Cavallino', introducing the characteristics later developed with the F430 and F458 Italia.

An in-depth study of the shapes in the wind tunnel determined a thinning of the body lines, in particular in the front, in the underbody and in the slides extractors of the back. The general rounding of the body results in a grater aerodynamic raciness, while the exclusive use of aluminum permitted to realize a frame weighing a total of 1,290 for the whole car, the 28% less of the F355 one, a value that added to the 0,33 Cx permit the Modena to reach a top speed of 295 km/h and to accelerate form 0 to 100 km/h in 4,5 seconds.
Fenice Milano presents today 'Su Misura F101', the renewed version of this masterpiece of technique, including the integration of internal and external aesthetical components made in composite materials (carbon fibre) and fiberglass. The restyling, realized in 2008 from direct request of the client, includes the equipment of new 20'' rims forged in aluminum and partitioned in three pieces, assembled with tires measuring 225/30 in the front and 315/25 in the rear, suspensions with totally adjustable shock absorbers and springs and a stainless steel exhaust system.
Moreover a new ECU combined with a new suction system has been studied to improve considerably the performance of the car. In the passenger compartment the roll bar and the adjustable seats are in carbon, while the dashboard has been integrated with a multimedia navigation center and a satellite alarm.
The 'Su Misura' line was studied by Fenice Milano to satisfy at best the desire of its clients who already possess luxury supercars or who prefer to buy and personalize them according to their personal taste, with customized enhancements. Studying together with the client the best solutions to answer his requests and carrying out special feasibility studies, Fenice Milano offers the chance to take advantage of the experience of its artisans, designers and technicians also to those who would like to realize their own projects, starting from models other than the ones proposed and branded Fenice Milano.
